Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Thank you for your continued support and prayers. As I mentioned previously, because of the political unrest in Haiti it is uncertain when we would be able to return. My mission board is supportive of me as I seek the Lord’s guidance regarding a new place to become involved in deaf ministries. Things I’ve Been Up to Recently:
May 13—I attended a youth banquet at Liberty Baptist Church in SC. It was a blessing to be able to interpret for a deaf girl named Ella. We had a wonderful time of fellowship, food, and fun.
May 14—Starbucks in Greenville hosted a Deaf Night. It was great to see some that I already knew and to make some new friends as well.
June 6-13—Missions Trip to the Dominican Republic: God did a great work in the Dominican Republic, and I am so grateful to have been a part of the team from Harvest Deaf Ministries and to work with Eric and Juana Quinlan.
Over the course of 4 days, we visited 6 different deaf schools in and around Santo Domingo. We did a program with the children that included games, a silly skit, fun songs, special music, and a gospel presentation. We then divided into small groups so that we would be able to better counsel those who were ready to be saved. At the first school, seven students were saved; at the second, there were 25 professions of faith. That was just the beginning—a total of 160 deaf students made the decision to trust in Christ as their Savior that week! I am truly humbled to have been a part of what God did.
On Saturday, we had a Deaf Day at the church with around 150 deaf in attendance. There were 14 who accepted Christ that day as well. The Lord gave me the opportunity to counsel with three deaf ladies who accepted Christ!
That Sunday I attended a missions conference where the pastor of the church is a friend of mine from college. I was able to interpret for a deaf girl from the area as well as take part in a sign language trio for the special music.
June 20-23—(DBFA) Deaf Baptist Fellowship of America Conference: This was my first time attending the conference and it was such a blessing. God used each of the workshops and services to encourage me. Things on My Schedule:
June—taking a group to the Bill Rice Ranch in Tennessee with my home church
July — a 3-day interpreters workshop hosted by Silent Word Ministries — VBS at my home church and assisting another church with their VBS
August—a mission trip to the DeafNation World Expo in Las Vegas with Silent Word Ministries
Things to Pray For:
That I will be able to schedule more meetings in churches
For clarity as I seek the Lord’s leading regarding a new ministry location
For stability in Haiti and for the ministries that continue there
In Christ,
Lois Boswell
