Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Thank you for your continued support and prayers as I have been praying and seeking the Lord’s leading regarding a new ministry location.
For the past few months, I have been interpreting for Bible Baptist Church in Landrum, SC, on Sunday mornings. Recently the Lord has been working in my heart about the need to stay in this church and to help them to grow their deaf ministry. God has given me a verse to confirm his leading me in this direction. Colossians 4:17 says “Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfill it.” This is the ministry that the Lord has given to me to do. The door to Haiti is closed to me right now and this door is standing wide open. I praise the Lord for clear direction.
My goal at Bible Baptist will be two-fold. First, to reach the deaf community with the gospel and bring them into the church for the purpose of discipleship. Second, to train deaf ministry workers and interpreters to take on this ministry after me.
After meeting with my mission board, it was suggested to me to go ahead and resign from the board. I have requested that the funds remaining in my account be transferred to the Peart family to continue to support the deaf school in Haiti. If you wish to continue to support me in the deaf ministry, funds can be sent to my sending church: Fellowship Baptist Church PO Box 466 Duncan, SC 29334 This Past Month:
June 27-July 2: My home church took a group of 4 juniors and 4 teens to the Bill Rice Ranch in Tennessee. Staying in the cabin with our 4 junior girls was a blast. The best part of the week was seeing one of our girls accept Christ as her savior!
July 7-9: I was able to attend the ASL Institute which is a 3-day interpreters workshop hosted by Silent Word Ministries. There were 3 different courses you could take: beginner, basic, and interpreter. There was also a Deaf Bible conference being held at the same time.
July 18-22: My home church had our VBS program and this year I was able to teach the 3rd-4th grade class. I also rode the van to help pick up some of the children in the neighborhood.
Things on My Schedule:
July—assisting another church with their VBS
August—a mission trip to the DeafNation World Expo in Las Vegas with Silent Word Ministries
Things to Pray For:
For the remaining trips planned for this summer
For the Deaf ministry at Bible Baptist
For the Lord to raise up more Deaf ministry workers (especially men)
For employment in the fall
For stability in Haiti and for the ministries that continue there
In Christ,
Lois Boswell
